She prioritizes natural materials such as stone, wood, and metal and has a profound love for 20th-century design, especially from Brazil, France, and the Nordic regions. “Juliana Vasconcellos, one of the most important contemporary architects of the moment, who is bringing made in Brazil to the world...” - AD Italy, August 2023

Leo Lague spent his childhood in southern Brazil, shaping a subtle duality between the natural landscape and the industrial areas of the coal region. This period coincided with the turn of the millennium, marking the shift from analog to digital, the dawning era of the Internet, and profound dilemmas about the future of humanity.

Familiar with architectural plans and furniture long before attending college, he used the family furniture store as a laboratory to explore this universe and get closer to names that fostered the history of Brazilian and global design.

Through the mentorship of Houssein Jarouche, the name behind Micasa - a reference in design curation in Brazil, launching its first furniture line entitled Apollo in 2022 - the pieces allude to classical archetypes, symbols of Greek mythology and the Renaissance, and function as carved monuments, where the raw surface resembles the weight of marble. He developed techniques to solve the weight of large pieces, creating wooden structures covered in acrylic masses, resins, and cement in collaboration with artisans specialized in an industrial dynamic.

Lague's work develops at the intersection of history, semiotics, mythology, and anthropology. Faced with the world's enigmas, he proposes pieces where present and future, life and death, artisanal and industrial, secular and sacred, real and fiction, converge and collide.
